JJ Englert pointed Claude Cowork at a folder of tax documents and had it organise everything, build his bookkeeping and prepare a briefing for his accountant. He says it was the first year he didn't dread taxes.

What they built

A "Taxes" folder holding W-2s, 1099s, bank CSVs, mortgage documents and the business P&L, plus last year's return as a reference. Cowork sorted the files, wrote a Context.md briefing and built a master bookkeeping spreadsheet with income, expense, write-off and home-office tabs. It also produced a tax summary with refund projections, flagged missed deductions and discrepancies, and wrote a one-page accountant briefing and checklist.

The result

Self-reported: about 6-8 hours of manual work saved, and better-organised material for his accountant than in previous years.
