Software developer AJ Stuyvenberg let the open-source personal agent Clawdbot (now OpenClaw) handle his car purchase. The agent researched the price level, contacted dealers and played their offers against each other over email.

What they built

Clawdbot was connected to Gmail, calendar, browser and WhatsApp. First the agent searched Reddit for what people in Massachusetts had paid for a Hyundai Palisade Hybrid. It then found cars in the desired color combination at dealers within 50 miles and filled out their contact forms. A cron job checked the inbox for replies and forwarded offers from one dealer to the next. The agent had to ask before replying to anything decisive.

The result

The dealer discount came to $4,200, and the price landed at $56,000, below the $57,000 target. The agent made one mistake and sent an email in the wrong thread.
